The parents of the DuBois Central Catholic boys and girls cross country teams put on a banquet at the Luigi’s Villa in DuBois to honor the accomplishments, commitment, hard work, and efforts of the Cardinal runners from this past year.

Shane Paisley was recognized for his district appearance as well as his team loyalty. Michaela Armanini was honored for her role in team spirit and improvement as a member of the districts team. Alex Ochs was honored for her solid performance in helping the girls achieve a record place in the postseason. Senior John Swalligan was honored for his many years of dedication to distance running. Senior Elizabeth Gankosky was recognized for her strong performance and for her encouraging attitude as a member of the districts team. Senior Meghan Graeca was honored for her long tenure as a long distance runner and for her performance at districts. Beth Williams was honored for being an outstanding Freshman and for her attitude. Grant Norman was also honored. Johnny Ritsick was named the boys’ MVP, and Emily Williams was named the girls’ MVP and team captain.

A quote from Mr. Shade on the banquet and the team’s season: “The team, parents, and supporters brought in additional food and desserts to really spice things up for the kids. Having a large number of runners makes for a great experience for the whole cross country family, and this has been the case since preseason. All the little things done throughout the season let us know we had lots of support, and this is something many schools don’t have. It has come together nicely, and it is much appreciated.”
