MakerSpace Room at DCC in the Works for Next School Year

Egan Peck, Staff Writer

For the 2019-2020 school year at DCC, a MakerSpace room is being planned.  A MakerSpace room provides hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they deeply engage in science, engineering and tinkering. This room will be a place where STEM ideas and experimentation can take place for all ages.

The main materials in our MakerSpace room will consist of construction materials like Legos, rubber bands, colored golf tee’s, and other art supplies. The room will be located next to the high school art room offering accessibility to all.

Donations towards the room are greatly appreciated by DCC as they work to create this new work space for the students. Monetary donations are accepted as well as  Legos, Lego bins, storage containers, and  art supplies in good used condition.

DCC hopes that this room can be ready for the students of the 2019-2020 school year to help them better integrate the skills of science, technology, engineering, and math.

To make donations of money or supplies, contact Mrs. Tara Kramer or Mrs. Gwen Auman.
