DCC First Grade Gets to Meet Furry Friends on Field Trip

Rachel Aravich, Senior Editor

The whole first grade class took a trip to Petco on Monday. Mrs. Aravich and Mrs. Dettore, the first grade teachers,  took them to expand on their classroom lessons on animals.

The children got to learn many new fascinating facts about each animal they saw. One fact they learned was that you can’t paint the hermit crabs shell or else they will die. They also got to learn about how hamsters sleep during they day and then are up for the rest of the night. Some of them even thought that the ferrets looked like otters.

Overall the students really enjoyed getting to see all these animals and learn how they adapt to their environment.
