DCC Students Begin Unit on “Drones as Solutions”

Students in Mrs. Blasdell’s Real World Problems class are beginning a unit involving drones.  The students who are using the engineering process to develop solutions will be working both backward and forward in unit that encourages them to find problems that can be solved by drones and then determine how the drones could be adapted to better achieve the objective.

Students from Mrs. Kramer’s Robotics Class had just finished a unit on drones, so it seemed only natural to ask them to help students learn some of the skills necessary to use and fly the drones.  It was a bit of reverse cross-age teaching since the instructors were 8th graders and those learning were sophomores, but it was a quick way for the sophomores to engage with the technology.  They were all doing well piloting the drones by the end of the period.
