DCC 7th Graders Livin’ Like Michelangelo

Sam Harris, Staff Writer

In Mrs. Kramer’s 7th grade social studies class, things got quite creative. The students were learning about about Michelangelo and how he painted the Sistine Chapel.

The method that Michelangelo used involved him staring up at the ceiling for months at a time. With the help of Mrs. Gardner, the students were able to simplify this and make art of their own to see how Michelangelo might have felt when painting the chapel. The kids lay down on the floor facing the bottoms of their desks, and they attached drawing paper, and illustrated some things while lying down on their backs. Ouch!
