Mrs. Stringer’s Ecology Class Teaches Third Grade About Renewable Resources

Dan Cooley, Staff Writer

On Thursday February 13th, Mrs. Stringer took her Ecology class down to the elementary school gym to teach the third grade about renewable resources. She divided her students into different groups and had them take turns presenting different forms of renewable resources, such as solar, wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric.

They then took the groups of third graders and built wind mills, interacted with solar panels, and measured energy production. The students also had the opportunity to play with two snap circuit kits that came from a Captain Planet Grant. It was a very enlightening experience for each of the students, and a great way to show their appreciation for the new equipment.
