Hundreds of runners, some of Pennsylvania’s finest, gathered at the 20th Annual Big Red Invitational to race the gentle rolling course on a pleasant Saturday morning at the West Middlesex high school.  Several DCC runners made the long trip to Mercer County to add their names to the scorebooks in this prestigious cross country event.

Addison Smith(12:06) ran just 10 seconds away from a medal performance coming in the top 40% of all runners in a 141- member field to set a challenging mark for future junior high harriers.

Katelyn Smith (34:16), varsity runner for the Lady Cards, established the 6th best time ever run here for DCC girls, surpassing both Rachael & Madison Miller’s efforts in 2019. Jaci Mennetti (22:17) holds the record at DCC for the course since 2019.

The varsity boys were represented by Angelo Piccirillo (21:38) who nearly broke his previous record here.  The DCC record for the boys belongs to J.P. Piccirillo(19:00) from the 2019 season.

Luke Brown of Cathedral Prep was the overall boys winner, while Claire Anderson of Jamestown Area won the girls race.

Villa Maria Academy won the girls team title , as did the Cranberry boys.

The Cardinals race on Tuesday at the DuBois Area home course.
