Thirty schools gathered on a warm Saturday morning for the 19th annual Altoona Mountain Lion Invitational, and for the first time in history the Lady Cardinals made their presence known on this grassy, looping course in Blair County.

Leading the Cardinal girls was Haley Semancik(29.23) in her first race of the season. Semancik’s time sets a DCC record for the Altoona course that is bound to be challenged by future DuBois Central runners.

Veteran Eva Bloom(32.34), also making her first appearance this season, came in 117th in the 133 runner field.  Katelyn Smith(33.19) was third for the Lady Cards in setting her career-best mark for this year.

Addison Smith(12.57) ran a respectable race at 72nd place in the Middle School event.

The winner of the girl’s race was Delaney Dumm of Forest Hills, while the team title went to Altoona Area. Olivia Henning of United School District won the middle school race.

The Cardinals travel to St. Marys on Tuesday for a tri-meet.
