DCC Cross Country Team Runs at Ridgway Quad

The storied Ridgway course, long-time site of the popular invitational and District Nine championships, hosted 4 local schools on a pleasant late September afternoon.

In the middle school race it was Trent LaBenne(11:13) coming in first against DuBois runners, while also placing 2nd vs. Ridgway, just missing first against the Elkers by 2 seconds. LaBenne scored a second against Brookville as well.

Joining LaBenne in the middle school run was Addison Smith(15:11) and Elle Osterman(17:06), running her first race of the season.  Smith placed fifth against Brookville. All runners in the middle school contest established personal records for the 1.7 – mile course.

In the varsity race Angelo Piccirillo(21:00) smashed his personal record from 2019 by over a minute as he took a forth place against The Raider squad.  Lady Card Katelyn Smith(38:19) fought an injury that had possibilities for error during surgery but still managed to finish the contest for the girls.

DuBois Area swept all teams for the win with Brookville coming in second in the team scoring. AC Deemer of DuBois won the boys race, as did Morgan Roemer for the Lady Beavers.

The DCC records for the course are held by Jaci Mennetti(2019) and Johnny Ritsick(2019). The DuBois Area records belong to Bud Plazenski(2008) and Samantha Thompson(2008).

The Cardinals travel to the new Brockway course at Scottish Heights on Tuesday.
