Four District Nine schools raced on the new Brockway course at Scottish Heights Country Club, arguably the most challenging venue of the season, on a warm, clear day in early October.

Highlighting the contest for DCC was the victory by Trent LaBenne(15:02) in the middle school 2- mile run, setting a DCC season wins mark for the boys. LaBenne’s race earned him win #9 for the year so far, passing Nick Graeca’s record from 2015.

LaBenne easily won the race, coming in over a minute ahead of 2nd place Connor Thompson of DuBois on the grueling terrain.

Addison Smith(21:32) and Elle Osterman(21:51) ran with the middle school girls for DCC, establishing their course marks.   Smith scored against all three teams with a 2nd versus Punxy, a forth versus Brockway, and a fifth against DuBois. Osterman grabbed a third place versus the Chucks.

In the varsity race it was Angelo Piccirillo(22:17) scoring a third place against the Rovers. Lady Card Eva Bloom(33:52) finished ahead of Lady Beaver Lauren Hoover, and DCC’s Katelyn Smith(36:34) concluded the Cardinal’s debut on the new course.

Once again DuBois Area swept all teams with Joe Fordora(18:12) winning the boy’s race with a new course record, previously held by Micah Williamson of Brockway. Lady Beaver Morgan Roemer(21:04) set a girl’s record for the course in her 1st place effort.

The Cardinals join nearly all District Nine teams on Saturday at the famous Ridgeway Invitational, site of the District Nine Championships meet. The racing begins at 10am.
