The Rocky Grove Invitational, held at “Two-Mile Run Park” in Venango County, is one of the oldest cross county events in Northwest Pennsylvania, yet this was DCC’s debut here on a rainy, cool day resulting a what some might call a “Mud-Fest” for the competitors as they weaved around the rolling, grassy quagmire with hundreds of other runners.

In the middle school contest, Trent LaBenne(14:36) battled the conditions to achieve DCC’s only place of the day at 48th as he kept ahead of runners from both District Nine & Ten to secure the honors.

Addison Smith(17:39) and Elle Osterman(19:49) also established their PR’s on the course for the junior high books.

In the varsity race Katelyn Smith(34:31) and Eva Bloom(38:13) made the historic appearance for the Lady Cards over the challenging trails.

Titusville & Conneaut won the teams titles for the girls and boys respectively, while Morgan McNaughton of Clarion -Limestone and Kevin Sherry of Coudersport won the individual titles.

The Northwest Pennsylvania Middle School Championships take place on Saturday morning in Kane.

The Varsity Cardinals compete in the District Nine Championships on October 30th at the legendary Ridgway course.
