Mrs. Amy Gillung’s 9th – 12th grade science classes enjoyed a Penn State presentation on invasive species this Thursday, December 2.   It is the  part of the mission of the College of Ag Sciences to inform the general public about how to recognize invasive species and who to contact about them.

An invasive species is an introduced organism that becomes overpopulated and negatively alters its new environment. Although their spread can have beneficial aspects, invasive species adversely affect the invaded habitats and bioregions, causing ecological, environmental, and/or economic damage.

Students in DCC’s biology, AP Biology,  ecology, and AP Environmental Science experienced this extension of their learning and enjoyed seeing the college students who did the presentations as a part of their coursework.
